Marketing Trends for Lawyers 2023

Are your tried and true marketing efforts no longer working for your legal practice? Though it might seem intimidating to move in a new direction – a digital direction – with your attorney marketing campaigns, fresh tactics could attract new clients and cases to your law firm.

In this week’s blog, the Hyport Digital team covers a few of our favorite techniques for online marketing in the legal world.

Trend #1: Google’s “Lawyer Near Me” Function

One of the latest advancements revolutionizing the way law professionals interact with and connect with potential clients is Google’s “Lawyer Near Me” search function. With stiff competition for legal keywords on Google’s organic and paid searches, this feature helps potential clients find you with very little effort on their part – and yours. Working with a team of digital marketing experts can help you rank on this list.

Trend #2: Remarketing Ads on Facebook

Ever wish you could get back in front of past visitors to your website? After all, they landed on your site for a reason and may still be seeking services you offer. With remarketing ads, you can! Facebook’s ad technology tracks your website’s visitors with the use of Facebook Pixel (a simple piece of code embedded in your website). Once a Facebook user visits your site, they will be served ads for your law practice when browsing Facebook. You can further target potential clients by creating custom Facebook “lookalike” audiences for your practice based on customer information lists, paid data, and more. This way you will be able to get in front of even more potential clients with absolute ease.

Trend #3: Google My Business Reviews

One of the easiest ways for clients to find you online and click over to your website or even call your practice directly is through a Google My Business listing. This free listing provided by Google allows you to add in all the key information about your legal practice – hours of operation, phone number, physical address, services offered, etc. – and even share reviews submitted by your past clients, resulting in a Google rating between 1 and 5 stars. The better your reviews and the more complete your information on this listing, the higher it will appear in search results and the better your rating. This is a MUST for your legal practice’s marketing strategy. Want to learn more? Visit our blog about

Trend #4: Content Marketing

Content marketing is one of the smartest and fastest ways to establish trust with current and potential customers. It’s a very simple concept: Produce content (blogs, email newsletters, social posts, website landing pages, etc.) that covers topics and answers questions that benefit and educate your clients. Not sure what questions or problems they have? Consider polling past, current, and potential clients through an email survey and / or social posts. This will help you create a plan for future website and social media content that’s guaranteed to resonate with the people you’re targeting.

Trend #5: Mobile-Friendly Websites

Having a mobile-friendly website is an incredibly important part of getting your legal services in front of the right potential clients. It’s so important, in fact, Google now requires every website to be optimized for mobile devices in order to rank in their search algorithm. And the statistics speak for themselves: 57% of all U.S. online traffic now comes from smartphones and tablets.

But it’s not just a necessity because it helps you get discovered; it’s also vital to impress clients once they end up on your page. As a law professional, you need to stay up to date on the most current legal happenings. If a potential client pulls your mobile-unfriendly website up on their smartphone, your practice won’t seem “with the times” and they may question whether you are truly a leader in your field.

Trend #6: Voice Search Marketing

Voice search marketing is one of the newest trends legal professionals should be aware of. It is estimated that by 2020, more than half of searches will be completed through some sort of voice-activated device, such as Google Home or Amazon Alexa. So how can this technology increase your client load? Consider creating a daily briefing for the Amazon Alexa store. Or create an app that is compatible with both Google Home and Alexa.
